60 Goats for Icyerecyezo (“Vision”) Cooperative

“Am I really the one owning this big goat? It is a great honor in my family that from today onward we are part of livestock owners. We will get money and fertilizer from this goat and our lives are going to be transformed. If you think I am dreaming, visit me after a few months.” Jeannette Uwambaje

On February 14, 2015, Justin and and his team delivered 60 goats to the Icyerecyezo cooperative in Eastern Rwanda. We are so grateful to everyone who bought goats in December, and helped change the lives of each family who received a goat! Meet some of the recipients, below.

Justin: This community was founded by Clementine, who is now the co-op leader. Her husband was a pastor and his church members were extremely poor. Together they thought of what they should do to bring people out of poverty – not just providing evangelism to hungry people. They decided to bring people together for work. Only 10 members accepted the idea. They started raising 2 pigs and slowly other people joined the co-op. Now they have 129 co-op members and many families being served.

The goats from WD4H are being very productive in their farming by providing fertilizer. Every member has a kitchen garden when they get vegetables, made possible by the fertilizer from goats. They are hoping to buy land because now they are renting the land they work together.
