At exactly 2:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 230 zombies rose from the lawn of the stunning Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens to perform Michael Jackson’s iconic dance as part of “Thrill the World.” This was the fourth year World Dance hosted the Santa Barbara edition of this worldwide phenomenon. Our Thriller flashmob circuit included State Street, Ghost Village Road, Soho’s, and Neverland – MJ’s home in Los Olivos. It was a fantastic opportunity for dancers and non-dancers alike to take part in an incredibly fun, spirited, global, inclusive, inspiring happening.
Thriller offers big fun, great exercise, awesome community, and a chance to connect with the world. But it’s more than that. Our purpose in producing the event each year is to help people in need. In 2013 Thriller raised $30,460 to send 118 Rwanda primary, secondary, and college students to school in 2014, and donated $3,560 to the local Boys and Girls Clubs. Every dollar went directly to the charities, none to overhead!
