Our Work in Ukraine

Since the day that Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, World Dance for Humanity has been compelled to aid the people of Ukraine in any way we can. Thanks to a partnership we have developed with our Santa Barbara friends Tatyana (Tanya) Marchenko and Julia Rubanova, World Dance is able to send funds from our class donations every month directly to our partners in Ukraine, so they can buy food, medicine, hygiene items, and school supplies for orphans, refugees, medical centers, and food for homeless animals. We are so grateful to our dancers and donors for helping us bring comfort to people trying to survive.

All of this is possible thanks to dedicated volunteers in these towns:

  • BROVARY - Brovary Refugee Centre (Laura)

  • DONETSK - Regional Refugee Center, Children (Ludmila)

  • IRPIN - Refugee Center (Roman)

  • ISMAIL - Refugee Center (Maria)

  • IVANO-FRANKIVSK - St. Mykolai Town of Mercy Refugee Center (Sister Maria, Father Ivan)

  • KHERSON - Citizen’s Community Refugee Center (Olena)

  • KYIV - Refugee Center (Ludmila)

  • KYIV Region - Gordyivka House of Prayer (Pastor Vasilij)

  • MOKRETS - Orphanage (Laura)

  • MYKOLAIV - Cancer Center (Natalia)

  • MYKOLAIV - DOF Refugee & Burn Center / Children’s Hospital Cancer Department (Olga)

  • MYKOLAIV - Dog Shelter (Eugenia), Cat Shelter (Marina)

"From heart to heart, thank you World Dance for Humanity for your kind hearts. You did not stay away from the requests of the people of Konstantinivka, whose needs for medicine, food, clothes and hygiene items are increasing every day. This month you united with the women of Kosovo, our big hugs to every family and person who reached out, let's continue to do good together!" - Lyudmila Kovalenko, Kiev

"Ukrainian people are defending our land, our dreams and values, our freedom and independence. There is so much pain and suffering, they've been living in the hell for more than two and a half years. Our volunteers are extremely tired, living without electricity, with regular air raids, nobody can maintain their mental health or the level of energy needed for this work. I hope that we’ll continue to receive help to stay strong and be able to keep going." - Tanya Marchenko
